COVID-19 Update - May 5, 2020
May 4, 2020 The Ontario government is allowing certain businesses and workplaces to reopen as long as they comply with strict public health measures and operate safely during the COVID-19 outbreak. Those permitted to start up include seasonal businesses and some essential construction projects.
"We are allowing certain businesses to reopen under strict guidelines because we are confident, they can operate safely and adapt to the current environment," said Premier Ford. "While further reductions in the spread are needed before we can begin reopening the province, we have the right framework and the right workplace guidelines in place to do so gradually and safely."
The government, in partnership with Ontario's health and safety associations, has developed more than 60 guidelines in response to COVID-19. These sector-specific measures will help employers prepare their workplaces so they can be reopened safely and ensure workers, customers and the general public are protected.
By following the proper health and safety guidelines these businesses will be permitted to begin operations on Monday, May 4 at 12:01 a.m.
Lawn Care & Landscaping
“Carry over” and new landscape projects are allowed to start. We understand and deem the following essential work to resume/re-start:
- Hardscaping Construction - Structures - Pools - Renovations - Enhancements (mulching, pruning, etc.) - Planting
We continue to operate with safety as our #1 priority. We must maintain strict distancing and safe working protocols. Our joint health and safety committee has issued a document for our staff of strict guidelines to follow to ensure we do not compromise the safety of our employees, our clients or the communities in which we serve.
Going forward, we have decided to continue to provide our design, landscape and maintenance services to our clients and to continue to provide employment to our staff. We recognize that if the government informs us we are to discontinue work, we will abide accordingly. This is the latest information we have and we continue to monitor this situation closely.
At this time our office remains closed to the public. However, our sales and design teams are working remotely and are available to discuss designs, estimates, and upcoming projects over the phone, email, or video conferencing with all of our clients.
We wish you all health and safety in this difficult time,
Adrian Bartels, President
